For over two decades, Mark Michael Diamond Designs has been a beloved fixture in Maple Grove, MN, renowned for its custom jewelry, engagement rings, and personalized service. Founded by Mark Lauer in 1985 alongside his brother Michael, the business started as a wholesale venture before transitioning to a retail gallery, alongside wife Sue, in 2000. The store gained a reputation for meticulously crafted jewelry and became a mainstay on Main Street, earning accolades such as being voted Maple Grove's Best Jeweler multiple times.

In 2023, a significant transition occurred. After more than 20 years of serving the community, Mark Lauer decided to retire. This moment marked the beginning of a new chapter with Kelly Sternau taking over the business.

Having been a dedicated employee and talented designer at Mark Michael Diamond Designs for over a decade, Kelly was proud to have the opportunity to carry on the legacy. The store was rebranded as Croft & Stern Jewelry Designs, reflecting a fresh yet familiar approach to custom jewelry design and customer service,

Under Kelly's leadership, Croft & Stern Jewelry Designs continues to honor the values and quality that Mark Michael Diamond Designs was known for. The newly remodeled studio on Main Street offers state-of-the-art equipment and an expanded range of services, including jewelry repair, custom designs, estate jewelry, laser engraving, permanent jewelry, and new original creations. Kelly’s vision is to blend the traditional craftsmanship that she learned studying jewelry fabrication in Florence, Italy with contemporary modern design, ensuring that each piece is unique and personal.

The transition has been smooth, with the community warmly welcoming the new ownership. Croft & Stern Jewelry Designs has maintained all existing warranties from Mark Michael Diamond Designs from 2013 to 2023, providing continuity and reassurance to long-time customers. Additionally, Mark Lauer remains a featured independent designer, regularly showcasing his latest creations at the new store!
